Demios-9

Martian Menace

The enigmatic tripod walker craft known only as Deimos-9 would follow after the Ares Mothership and continue the process of harvesting resources while expeditiously dismantling Earth’s defenses. Impacting initially in a compact spherical form, it unfolded to reveal its long legs and extending manipulator appendages, proving it could swiftly cross any terrain as it focused on urban centers. Deimos-9 has shown the capability of reaping vast amounts of energy in minutes, and seems to prefer to prey on power plants, solar grids, and other high-energy locations. Its grappling manipulators and limbs are made of advanced Martian metals and polymers, being extremely strong and durable despite a fragile appearance.

Alpha Form Description
Flank

Enemies within two spaces of this model have their DEF reduced by 1 against brawl attacks made by allied models, to a minimum of 1.

Grappler

Enemy models cannot move through this model or models adjacent to it. Enemy models are not immune to hazards adjacent to this model.

Mechanical

This monster is mechanical.

Power Gorge

When this attack destroys an enemy model, you gain one additional Power Die .

Hyper Form Description
Energy Cycle

If you roll two or more Action Dice on an attack made by this model and the attack hits an enemy model, after the attack is resolved you can move one Action Die from your Unit Pool to your Monster Pool.

Flank

Enemies within two spaces of this model have their DEF reduced by 1 against brawl attacks made by allied models, to a minimum of 1.

Grappler

Enemy models cannot move through this model or models adjacent to it. Enemy models are not immune to hazards adjacent to this model.

Lightning Attack

This model can make a brawl attack in addition to any other attack it makes during each of your Monster Activations.

Mechanical

This monster is mechanical.

Fling

When this attack hits a unit, choose a building or enemy model within five spaces of the unit hit. Roll the dice in play. If the chosen model's DEF is equal to or less than the number of strikes rolled, it takes 1 damage point.

Playstyle

Deimos-9 kit is centered around it's Grappler ability, ensuring that any unit or monster with High Mobility and Flight unable to reach a favorable position to get to Deimos. Ensuring that you reduce the enemies mobility is the key to mastering Deimos-9.

Alpha Form

  • Flank: Remember that Flank applies to within 2 spaces of Deimos-9, so enabling unit to hit their target accurately
  • Grappler: The bread and butter of Deimos-9's kit. This ability essentially creates a 'no go' zone to buildings and units adjacent to it. It is quite common to see Deimos-9 hiding between buildings and then taking a melee attack to the enemy monster with its accurate melee attack thanks to Flank. The enemy will then have to a make a choice: destroy the building (potentially taking damage because of grappler) and engage for a risk of counter attack later down the line or stay and gets poked by deimos' melee.
  • Mechanical: In a pinch, Deimos can destroy a Power Plant to heal by 1.
  • Power Gorge - Blast: A rarely used attack since Deimos' has a range 3 and only 3 blue dice on its ranged attack. But having an extra option for ranged attack is never unwelcomed.

Hyper Form

From a very meek alpha form, Deimos turns into a melee monster (literally and figuratively) on Hyper form. Energy Cycle allows for a very aggressive back to back monster turn, coupled with Lightning Attack to take advantage of the cycle, not to mention Fling on the trigger.

  • Energy Cycle: Remember that you need to roll at least 2 action dice *AND* hits the target to benefit from this. This ability makes Deimos' turn very action efficient.
  • Flank: same as above
  • Grappler: same as above
  • Lightning Attack: Coupled with energy cycle, this makes it so that the monster turn can effectively start with only 3 action dice, hits the enemy once, lightning attack then one action dice left for the other monster to use. Remember that you can also step in between the attacks so you can use the lightning attack trigger to remove screens.
  • Mechanical: Please have more than one Power Plant if you are running Deimos, the capability to power attack the enemy, lightning attack the Power Plant is an incredible tempo swing.
  • Fling - Melee: Deimos-9 can potentiall destroy 4 units per turn or throw those 2 units into the monster.
