Gorghadra

Planet Eaters

The horrors from space called the Planet Eaters are towering beasts of impenetrable flesh and glistening metal. Driven by the need to feed, they consume all who are foolish enough to stand against them. Gorghadra, a gigantic beast of armored plating and muscle, leads this ravenous horde. Parasites the size of small houses swarm in Gorghadra’s shadow, feasting upon the scraps that fall from the monster’s fanged maw.

Playstyle

Gorghadra is a beatstick, good at every kind of attack, but with hardly any tricks or gimmicks.

  • Demolisher rewards an aggressive playstyle with extra power die, while Riled and Unearthly Rage mean that even if your opponent capitalizes on your over-aggressive positioning, you'll at least get a power die out of it. And all the extra power dice ensure that Gorghadra keeps the aggression up throughout the game.
  • For a pedestrian like Gorghadra, getting rid of hazards with Disintegrate can really open up the map.
    • Also a foundation without a rubble cannot be Repaired. Take that, Tharsis/Repair Trucks!
  • Don't forget that Annihilate applies to all your attacks! Sure, an extra point of damage on a throw is always money, but a 2 damage blast or swat from downtown can really catch an opponent off guard!
  • Don't be afraid to step on a hazard tile and hyper Gorghadra up if Annihilate will give you the edge you need!

Pairings

Gorghadra brings a lot of damage to the table, but as a pedestrian with only the most basic screen-clearing abilities, he wants a partner who can get around obstacles, clear screens and otherwise open up the enemy so Gorghadra can dish out the damage.

  • Ares Mothership - Speed 7, High Mobility and Flight means Ares can get where she needs to be and 'alley-oop' another monster over to Gorghadra. She can also clear screens with Abduct and make them with Transport. Plus, Gorghadra's strong hyper form helps cover for Ares' notoriously weak one.
  • Cthugrosh - Similar to Ares, Cthugrosh brings High Mobility to the table, though slightly slower and without flight. On the other hand, 'Grosh is the lord of screen making and breaking with Summon and Telekinesis, and unlike Ares it keeps these abilities in hyper!
  • Cyber Khan - Another High Mobility buddy, but this one comes with a range 5 gun, which is a surprisingly potent tool for board control and allows Khan to clean screens while maintaining a safe distance. Khan also comes with some dice efficiency tools to help you maintain that economic edge.
  • Hammerklak - With High Mobility, Speed 7 and Sprint 'Klak can start of the 'alley-oop' chain better than anyone else on this list, but that's not all! Klak's really good at hitting hard and running to safety, meaning that if opponents want to retaliate they'll have to do so on Gorghadra. This is good! Gorghadra has the health to take a hit plus he gets an extra power die thanks to Riled. Best of all, hypering Gorghadra early means you now have two monsters in play who can throw out super damage on any attack!
  • Xaxor - High Mobility in both forms and range 5 Blast in Alpha make him a good partner, while Gorghadra's Power Dice gathering abilities can help give Hyper Xaxor the juice he needs to make the most of Ultimate weapon. Chomper buffs are the cherry on top.
